Sometime a letter from Konrad in Herrenberg made the round to Wilhelm in McKeesport, to Julius in Pittsburgh and August in Latrobe before it was return to Christian in Lycippus.

If we take a look at the development of the Haeberlen in the last few generations we notice three things: First: there are not as many children anymore. Second: A geographical spreading over Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, Europe and even the United States and connected with that: more Haeberlens live in the city than in the country. Third: An increase of profession which require university education. This is not typical for only our family, though, but is a general development.

For the end we will try to give a kind of general characterization of the family type. We are well aware that this is practically not possible and that there will be almost as many examples against a family type as for it.

But at least we want to point out some characteristic traits: mostly of slim built and graceful, not much more than average height, dark hair and brown eyes. Corpulent persons and persons with fair hair are rare in our family. The daughters are often pretty and graceful.
